Dr. Mahdi Taani
Mahdi is responsible for investigating the fundamental physical processes underpinning the detector technology and using that insight to enhance the detection capabilities.
Mahdi obtained his MSci in Theoretical Physics and went on to earn his PhD in High Energy Physics awarded by University of Edinburgh and Nagoya University, Japan. Mahdi then went to work as a postdoctoral researcher at King's College London where he set up a state-of-the-art optics laboratory. Mahdi worked on the Nobel prize-winning Super-Kamiokande experiment, carrying out research focussed on searches for exotic physics, conditions in the early universe and the mechanisms of supernova explosions. Mahdi firmly believes that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
